The Care Home KitchenPod from PKL, is a permanent modular kitchen building which is constructed off site. The kitchen arrives at your care home complete with catering equipment of your choice and ready to connect to services.

KitchenPods are available as a single modular unit, or a larger open plan multi-unit facility depending on the size of kitchen required.

There is a wide range of external finishes available for the Care Home KitchenPod, including wood cladding, brick slip, vinyl wrap or your choice of painted exterior. This means that the pod can be easily matched to existing buildings on site to help with planning regulations.

The Care Home KitchenPod offers a perfect solution for care homes looking to increase their revenue, by turning their existing kitchen into extra bedroom space. Our KitchenPods can easily link onto existing buildings and can be delivered and installed from as little as six weeks from order. Delivery and installation is undertaken using our own transport fleet and team of engineers.

KitchenPods are available on a contract rental basis, meaning that there is no large capital outlay and the revenue generated by the extra bed space can easily cover the cost of the kitchen. Alternatively, KitchenPods are available for a straight capital purchase.

In both cases, the KitchenPod is supplied with a full service and maintenance package covering the building and equipment inside. New animated rapid response examples from PKL

PKL has recently launched a new video walk through of our Rapid Response kitchens. The animation illustrates a 100-man ISO framed kitchen, which we are able to deliver around the world at short notice.

Suitable for temporary or permanent uses, PKL’s Rapid Response kitchen and dining facilities have been delivered around the world and have been used for camp facilities, in disaster relief areas or by military forces.

This video illustrates a 100 man facility, however, we can supply facilities of any size if required and regularly supply 500+ man facilities.

PKL KitchenPods for Care Home Sector

PKL, the world’s largest supplier of temporary kitchens and catering equipment for hire, has launched its KitchenPods range into the residential care sector.

Originally developed for primary schools, PKL identified a market need in the residential care home sector for the KitchenPod application.  Available to buy or on a contract rental basis, KitchenPods come in a range of sizes and offer an ideal solution for any care home to maximise its revenue by converting an existing kitchen into additional bed space. Alternatively it can help homes that need to improve or refurbish any existing kitchen facilities by providing them with a complete, ready to order permanent kitchen building.  

Once ordered, the KitchenPod modular kitchen building can be delivered within 6 weeks and  despite being a permanent building, can be relocated, removed or easily extended as the needs of the care home change over time.

KitchenPods are available in a wide range of finishes, including an attractive wood cladding or a customised brick slip. PKL maintain the both the building and all catering equipment on an ongoing basis so that, in the unlikely event of a problem, there would be minimal disruption to the home while it was being fixed.

Guangzhou Asian Games 2010

In 2010, China played host to the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou. PKL’s previous project experience from the Beijing 2008 Olympics was instrumental in supporting the large volume of meals produced by Master Caterer ARAMARK. Nearly 10,000 athletes from 45 countries attended the Games, making it the largest Asian Games ever.

The Main Dining facility of the Athletes Village was made of light steel structure with an area of 13045 square meters. The result of the efforts of PKL and ARAMARK was the production of 800,000 meals in 66 days. Every meal included 22 entrees, 12 vegetable dishes and 100 cold dishes served up in PKL custom made serveries.

PKL Joins Clean Up at Glastonbury

Cheltenham based PKL Group has begun the process of removing its temporary portable kitchens from Glastonbury. The UK's leading provider of temporary kitchens and commercial catering equipment for hire supplied the festival with catering facilities for back of house staff and organisers.

Installation of the kitchen units began on the 2nd June, with the final unit completed on the 20th June during the torrential rain. PKL begin removal of the units from Worthy Farm today, as past of the mass clean-up after the festival.

Says Lee Vines, Marketing Director at PKL, “It’s always an extra challenge when the weather isn’t on your side, but we’re used to handling torrential rain, heat, sand and even snow when installing our kitchen units! We supply a number of big events like Glastonbury each year – including backstage VIP catering for the Isle of Wight festival and kitchens at the Commonwealth and Beijing Olympic Games – so have a lot of experience in that area. With the muddy conditions at Glastonbury this year our team will be working hard to rescue our units and bring them back to Cheltenham!”
